Learn to Row

Rowing is an exciting and enjoyable sport that offers a great way to get fit, try a new team activity, boost your confidence, and make new friends. Our Learn to Row courses for beginners will introduce you to the basics and get you on the water. From there, how far you go depends on how much you want to challenge yourself. We offer additional courses and different pathways to join our squads, whether you’re looking for a more casual experience or aiming for top-level competition.

Taster Sessions

Taster session give you an opportunity to try the sport before committing to a full learn to row course although are not a pre-requisite of registering for a learn to row course.  We are running taster days as follows:

Seniors (35 and under) – Saturday 24 January 2026  from 11.30am to 2.30pm

Juniors (12 to 17 years) –  Thursday 19 and Friday 20 February from 10am to 1pm

Masters ( 36 and over) – 21 February 2026 from 11.30am to 2.30pm

Junior Learn to Row

We run Junior Learn to Row courses in the summer holidays across 5 afternoons or 5 mornings.  Dates will appear here once set.

All Junior Coaches are DBS checked.  
 

Adult Learn to Row

We run Learn to Row courses for adults at various times during the year. Once dates are known we will post details here. 

In the meantime, please complete the Expression of interest form via the link below for either course. We will contact you before the next Learn to Row course and give you the opportunity to sign up.

General Information
Rowers must be able to swim 50m in light clothing (rowing kit), tread water for 2 minutes,  swim underwater for 5m and should be confident that they will not panic if they fall in! 

There is a maximum number of places on each course, once this is reached we will not be able to accept anyone else.
